Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a procedure where a tooth-coloured composite resin material is applied to the teeth to correct or mask imperfections. It can be used to cover chipped, stained, misaligned, worn, or gapped teeth.
Cosmetic bonding in Double Bay is a safe, conservative, and reversible treatment for patients seeking to improve their smile. Cosmetic bonding is also ideal for minor cosmetic dentistry work.
What Are the Benefits of Cosmetic Bonding in Double Bay?
Cosmetic dental bonding typically requires no anaesthesia because it is a minimally-invasive procedure. Compared to other treatments such as porcelain veneers, dental bonding in Double Bay is more conservative and cost-effective.
How Does Cosmetic Teeth Bonding Work?
At the consult appointment in our clinic near Sydney, our dentist Dr Yee examines your teeth and photos are taken. A colour is selected and trial bonding is done to allow you to see what the final result can look like. If you are happy with the result, then we can organise an appointment for your bonding treatment.
Your gums should be in a healthy state before the cosmetic bonding teeth procedure. For optimal results, good oral hygiene is paramount weeks before the appointment.
Day of the treatment, local anaesthetic may be given to numb the teeth and surrounding tissues, but usually no anaesthetic is required. All decay, plaque and tartar is removed prior to treatment.
The teeth are prepared using light air abrasion to roughen the surface and a phosphoric-acid-based gel is applied to allow a stronger bond to the cosmetic resin. A bonding agent (glue) is applied to the roughened surface and set using a resin curing light.
The cosmetic resin is then applied in layers until the desired shape and colour is achieved and then the curing light is used to set the composite.
The hardened composite veneers are then polished and smoothed to a life like appearance.
You will return to our practice in 1-2 weeks for a short appointment to make any minor adjustments and final photos.
